but I hope he is still writing some new music.Grab this album, it's worth it. Anyways, this is a GREAT album. I stopped listening to it, and just listened to it again today. his tour is pretty limited and his web site is sparse. I love this album, and I instantly loved it the first time I heard it. I had it in my car CD player for like 4 months. Beautiful lyrics, melodies, and simple music.I hope to see more from Jakob Dylan.
Highly recommended. Yes, it's boring if you are a brainwashed 15 year old waiting for the next over produced, over hyped, computerized, Britney offering. I look for not only excellent music and vocals, but clean acoustic production, scouring amazon and many other sites for the very best. Wonderful folk rock offering. Very clean crip recording. Love it. This is in my top 5 favs for the year. If you are an audiophile, buy it NOW.
However, if you are an adult and you long for real musicians playing real music, recorded by a gifted engineer, this one is for you. Jacob, please make more like this. I've easily purchased 50 cds in 2009 and I'm extremly picky. This CD is fabulous. Rich, lush vocals, just sumptious guitar work.
For some reason, my local Borders played this ad nauseam, driving customers from the store. "Evil is alive and well": a dreary voice sings monotonous lyrics. Bob D also couldn't sing, but he did write interesting lyrics, unlike Jacob.
Songs here feature exclusively solo acoustic guitars and light percussion behind Dylan's husky singing voice - production by Rick Rubin is honest and laid-back, allowing the songs to stand on their own. GENRES: Contemporary Folk, Mellow Rock.BUY IF YOU LIKE: Jackson Browne, Greg Brown.MUST HEAR TRACKS: "Evil Is Alive and Well," "All Day and All Night," "Will It Grow." Seeing Things is Jakob Dylan's first solo effort, and a far cry from his former roll as front man for The Wallflowers. It can't be easy being Bob Dylan's son (or maybe it can), but this Dylan's tunes are worthy of attention too.
THen I heard another song and lo and behold, it was the same artist. I heard one of the songs on sattelite radio at work, kept little notes as to the lyrics and searched it on google. So I came to good ol' AMazon ond bought the cd.
